Sacrifice Prayer
The obligatory acts of worship after the sacrifice
- Prayer to be prayed
After the owner of the sacrifice has slaughtered it or had it slaughtered by someone else;
"When you slaughter your sacrifice, put down the knife in your hand. Then pray two rak'ahs. Whoever among the Muslims prays these two rak'ahs and asks Allaah for something, Allaah will surely give that person what he asks for."
It is mustahabb to pray two rak'ahs in accordance with his Hadîth.
In the first rak'ah of the prayer, Surah al-Kawsar ("Inna a'tayna") is recited after Fatiha, and in the second rak'ah Surah al-Ikhlas ("Kul huwallahu ehad") is recited.
After this prayer;

"Allâhumma hâze'l-kabshu, (ev hâze'l-bakaru, ev hâze'l-ma'zü) minke wa lke wa ileyke. Fetekabbel minnî bilutfike wa keramike kemâ tekabbelte min Ibrâhîme Halîlike and Ismâîle Zabîhıke and Muhammadin Habîbike bifazlike and jûdike wa keramike Yâ Ekrame'l-Ekramin"
Recite the prayer and pray for religious and worldly needs. (Ziyâ-i Ma'nevî)
Sacrifice Prayer
- Distribution of Sacrificial Meat
It is mustahabb to divide the meat into three portions.
1) One third is given as charity.
2) One third is given to relatives and friends as a gift or a feast.
3) And one-third for his family and his children, whose maintenance is upon him. (Bedâyi)
It is permissible to give some of the meat as a gift or to donate all of it. If the sacrificer is in need, it is mustahabb and wajib for him to feed his household. (Hindiye, Bedâyi, Tahtawi)
If one of the partners in the sacrifice dies before the sacrifice is slaughtered, the sacrifice is valid if it is slaughtered with the permission of the eldest of his heirs. (Hindiyya)
If a person dies before slaughtering the sacrifice he bought, the sacrifice is inherited property and passes to the heirs. It is permissible if the heirs slaughter it for themselves. (Nazm-i Zendûsî)
- Distribution of a joint sacrifice
It is not permissible to divide the meat of a sacrificed sacrifice by guessing; it is obligatory to weigh it and divide it.
But if there is a piece of skin, foot, head, liver, or a piece of fat or tripe in the shares along with the meat, it is permissible to divide the shares by estimation .
It is permissible if they all cook and eat the meat together without dividing it.
If a person buys a cattle with the intention of sacrificing it for himself, his family and his older children, it is not necessary to divide the meat.
