What is a Wajib Sacrifice?
The slaughtering of five types of animals [sheep, goats, cattle, camels, buffaloes] on the 10th, 11th, 12th days and nights of the month of Dhu'l-Hijjah with the intention of worship and closeness to Allâh.

What is the Ruling on Qurbani?
Sacrifice is obligatory. This is because it is stated in the hadîth-i-sherîf:
"If a person has the power to sacrifice but does not sacrifice, let him not come near our masjid (i.e., us)."
Another hadîth-i-sherîf says, "He will not be granted our intercession."
Sacrifice is only performed by slaughtering an animal suitable for sacrifice.
SACRIFICE GUIDE

The nisâb of sacrifice (i.e., the amount of wealth that must be present for the sacrifice to be wajib):
The nisâb of sacrifice is to have enough wealth to be wajib for sadaqah al -fitr. It is not necessary that this property should be something that can be increased by shopping, as is the case with the nisâb of zakat, and it is not necessary for a year to pass. If a person becomes rich at the end of the days for sacrificing, it is wâjib to sacrifice immediately. (Kâzîhân)
The animals that can be sacrificed are sheep, goats, cattle, jâmûs (water buffalo) and camels. Sheep and goats are sacrificed at the age of one year, cattle and jamooses at the age of two, and camels at the age of five. However, if the lamb is big and cannot be distinguished from a year-old sheep, it is sacrificed when it completes six months. (Wahdatî) Sheep and goats do not accept shares. One sheep and one goat can be sacrificed for one person. A cattle, a jâmûs, and a camel can be sacrificed for seven people. That is, seven people can sacrifice a cow or a camel jointly. The partners can be odd, even or less than seven. (Hindiyya)
2) Taking it to the place of slaughter with reverence.
3) Cut it himself if he can .
4) If he is unable to slaughter it, he should deputize a competent person and be present when it is slaughtered .
Our Prophet (s.a.w.) said: "O Fatima, get up and witness the sacrifice. When the first drop of its blood falls to the ground, every sin you have committed will be forgiven and forgiven."
