Zakat
Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam and is an annual financial worship. It consists of rich (i.e. nisâba) Muslims giving one-fortieth of their wealth every year to one of the eight classes mentioned in the Qur'ân al-kerîm for the sake of Allah Almighty.

Zakat and Society
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and, in addition to being an act of worship, it is one of the most important elements of social solidarity and solidarity. Zakat provides material and moral support to those in need. It meets the basic needs of those in need and lifts them out of poverty. It also helps to integrate those in need into society. Zakat ensures social peace and harmony. It eliminates the distinction between rich and poor and strengthens unity and solidarity in society.
ZEKAT
The condition for zakat to be obligatory
A Muslim who is adult, wise, free, and has the amount of nisâb, which is the amount of property that has been in excess of his debts and his basic needs for one year. The nisâb amount of property must also have moisture (actual or de jure reproduction). In the case of gold and silver, this moisture is present by law, but even if it does not actually increase, zakat is due when it reaches the nisâb amount.
What is Nisâb?
It is a religious criterion for zakat to be obligatory. It is the possession of 20 miskal (80.18 grams) of gold or its equivalent in money and trade goods, in addition to one's basic needs and debts. The basic needs are the house and the furniture needed for the house, clothes, tools, books, a horse or carriage, and provisions. One lira out of every 40 liras of money is given as zakat. Zakat on livestock: One-fortieth for sheep, one sheep for every five camels, and one calf for every thirty calves. Minerals are also subject to zakat.
What is Kharif?
Kharif is the zakat on land crops and is one-tenth of the crop. If the land is irrigated by paying for water, one-twentieth is given. Land crops include wheat, barley, rice, corn, potatoes, hazelnuts, tea, watermelon, cucumber, alfalfa, olives, sesame, honey, sugar cane and fruits. Since the land in Turkey is titled and owned, the land in Turkey is tithe land. Muslims engaged in agriculture are obliged to pay their tithe.
Places to Pay Zakat
Zakat can be given to any of these classes. However, the most virtuous ones are the needy who have nothing and those on the way to Allah. (Muhtasar Ilmihal, Fazilat Neşriyat)
