The conditions for a naflil sacrifice are the same as the conditions for the sacrifice on Eid al-Adha. These conditions are as follows:
- The animal to be sacrificed must be a sheep, goat, calf or camel.

- The animal to be sacrificed must be healthy and perfect.
- The animal to be sacrificed can be slaughtered by the owner or by proxy.
There is no specific rule for the time of the nafil sacrifice. A person can perform nafil sacrifice at any time, whenever he or she wishes. For example, when a person's prayer is answered, when a request is fulfilled, when he is relieved of a burden, when he is granted a blessing, he can offer a nafil sacrifice.
Sacrificing a supererogatory sacrifice is a way of thanking Allah and seeking His pleasure. Sacrificing a sacrifice also helps to gain the pleasure of the Almighty and to fulfill the needs of the poor and needy.
